A PU (polyurethane) O-ring is a durable sealing component made from high-performance polyurethane rubber, distinguished by its excellent abrasion resistance, high tensile and tear strength, and elasticity. They are ideal for dynamic and static applications like hydraulic and pneumatic systems, where they must withstand high pressure and wear. While they have good resistance to oil, aging, and ozone, they are not recommended for high-temperature or superheated steam applications.  Key characteristics
  • Exceptional strength: PU O-rings have high breaking and tensile strength, making them very difficult to tear or break.
  • Excellent wear and abrasion resistance: This makes them a superior choice for applications involving frequent movement or heavy loads.
  • High elasticity: They are very flexible and can retain their shape after compression, which is crucial for creating a reliable seal.
  • Good chemical resistance: They perform well in contact with mineral oils, greases, propane, and butane, but their resistance to certain chemicals can vary.
  • Low-temperature performance: They can maintain elasticity in cold environments, widening their operational range.
Limitations
  • Not for high temperatures: PU O-rings are not suitable for high-temperature or superheated steam applications, as they can break down.
  • Moderate swelling: While they have good swelling resistance to some liquids, prolonged exposure to certain solvents can cause them to swell.
Common applicationsHydraulic and pneumatic systems, Automotive components, Industrial machinery, and Sealing in dynamic applications where wear is a concern.
